Use public transportation rather than cabs. The buses are good, but know where you are going because Engish is NOT universally spoken.

Avoid using your credit card. Pay cash. My card was skimmed in the bazaar in Jerusalem – while I watched! – and later they tried to use it twice for major purchases at a jewelry store in Jordan. Luckily my credit card company flagged it and denied it.

It’s a fascinating place. You’ll enjoy it. Just use extra common sense.
