What experience(s) has anyone had when using a credit repair/restoration company?

Posted By savemoney

I am conducting research on credit restoration/repair companies and scam artists. Anyone who reads my posts knows that I am a proponent of credit restoration. And I support using the three legitimate credit restoration companies in the US. But I would like to hear of any experiences people have had with others. I do not want to hear about Lexington Law. I already have mountains of data on them, and not much of it good. I want to hear about all the others out there. Let me know who you used and what the results were. People who only want to post that credit repair is a scam, please do waste my time with your uneducated claptrap, I want legitimate answers only please.
Thank you for your answer, Rose. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

Lydia, I am in agreement with most of your answer, but I was just wondering what question are you answering? You posted it in the wrong place. Your answer has nothing to do with my question.

I used a company called Northwest Business Advisors. They treated me very well and performed a great service for me. I am very impressed with the fact that they continue to monitor my credit reports looking for any negative information that may have been re-inserted to my reports. So far, none has, but if it does, they will remove it again at no extra charge.
I had a very positive experience with them. Their staff was friendly and they did not judge me about the mistakes I had made in the past. The man assigned to my case works with me still if I have any questions about credit or whatever. I just call him up and he answers my questions or guides me as necessary. He did, once or twice get stern with me because I was making bad decisions but I am glad he did. I needed to have a firm hand to keep from doing something stupid to my credit again.

I hope this helps in your research. Email me if you need more information

I work for a credit report repair company. The truth is that no one can offer services that you couldnt do on your own. They should be paid for services not for results because they cannot guarantee that items will be removed even if you really want them too. The best any one can offer is a warranty on their services meaning if they cannot get items removed within a certain time frame that you may be refunded money.

Another sign that a company is fraudulent is if they require payment for work before it is offered. Everyday I hear of someone paying thousands of dollars upfront for credit repair…. this is wrong…very wrong!

All legitimate credit repair organizations will have a contract! More than a handshake.

No one can estimate how long credit report repair takes!

People who are searching for a credit report repair company should probably read the Credit Repair Organizations Act at http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/croa/croa.htm. It has a lot of big words and some of it seems to be nothing more than legal mumbo jumbo but read through so that you know your rights.

You should also check with the BBB to see how long the company has been is business, and that they actually exist. The BBB really isn’t good for anything more than that.

I hope this helps people in their search!!!
