London Travel: Money saving tips ?

I will be in London for a month in zone 3 (will be near Royal Victoria) and need to travel to King’s Cross atleast 5 times a week. What is the cheapest way to travel? Should I get a monthly travelcard? Or should I do pay-as-you-go considering that there is a daily cap everyday.
